Hill Country Reborns
Mary Kate Bashline-McCormack is the professional reborn artist behind Hill Country Reborns. She is from Leechburg, Pennsylvania but currently living in Austin, Texas, in the United States. Compared to many other artists in the reborning world, she doesn’t have many years of experience. However, this does not prevent her from being highly considered, as her skills and techniques completely measure up to other experienced reborn artists .
The story behind Mary Kate’s reborning career is deeply touching. In 2017, her oldest daughter was diagnosed with a form of epilepsy which is very difficult to treat. At that time also, Mary Kate had just adopted her youngest daughter, a little lovely baby who was born with special needs. She decided then to become a full time stay-home mom in order to look after her daughters in the best way possible.
It was her oldest daughter, who had always loved dolls, who helped Mary Kate discover the beautiful world of reborn dolls. After her daughter’s suggestion, Mary Kate was really inspired by this art and started doing some research about the process of creating lifelike dolls. She ordered some basic kits and tools to learn how to make them and got started without hesitation. Her techniques have incredibly improved thanks to the guidance of many other reborn artists, tons of research and experimentation. After having worked for a while in reborn babies and getting more acquainted with the reborning art, she realized that her true passion was working with larger toddler kits, as they allowed her unlimited creation. From the reborn toddlers, she especially loves the variety of personalities that can be interpreted and the vast range of options for hair, eyes and skin tone. Mary Kate prefers hand-rooted human hair, although she mastered rooting mohair as well.
She proudly claims that to have found a profession and art that allows her to bring happiness to herself and many other people is a huge blessing. She is attentive to her customers, ready to spend time discussing with them in order to understand exactly their needs and expectations.
Don’t miss her work!
